On Annapolis…

As this week’s Annapolis summit on how to chop up Israel approaches, I think it is appropriate for us to take stock of what could be at stake for us on a national level. All of us recall the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans, but not all perhaps recall the mandatory evacuation of the Gaza Strip by Israel about two weeks prior to this.
On our journey back from a trip to New York City, driving through rural Virginia, as the realization of this hit me, the day before Katrina struck, I saw immediately a building in the middle of nowhere with big letters reading “FOREIGN AFFAIRS.”
What we sow in our foreign affairs, we will reap in our nation in some form on some level. This is in accordance with what God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 12:3, “And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse.” I would really prefer to end up on the blessing side of things.
This is not God’s ultimate intention for Israel, simply to have favor from America on pain of judgment. Rather, God wants Israel rightly related to Him through the Messiah, Yeshua/Jesus. In accomplishing this end, He may very well have America push them to do things that eventuate in the destruction of the current status quo, judging us in return for our cursing of Israel in this manner and our own idolatry.
May we not be like Solomon in his latter days, intermarrying with nations we have no agreement with and going after their gods, lest he tear away our “superpower” status once and for all.
May His ends and purposes be accomplished in His way, and may we pray in accordance with His thoughts.
I welcome discussion on these topics. I believe to comment you have to first subscribe to the blog. Let me know your thoughts.

As I love, support and pray for this administration, I have been concerned about the mounting “two-state solution” pressure that the State Dept. has been putting on Israel lately. I have been extremely concerned.
Re: Katrina. It seemed terribly difficult to NOT see a connection between the forced evacuations in Gaza and the forced evacuations in New Orleans….God please have mercy on our country should we force Israel to give up more land.
