Some helpful thoughts and links to bless those who are trying to raise their family in the ways of God and educate them accordingly.
If you are just getting started in homeschooling or feeling a certain degree of lack of direction, the best articles I know of anywhere are by Chris and Ellyn Davis of Homeschool Marketplace, formerly the Elijah Company. They have excellent articles on identity directed homeschooling and other related themes. They have a real knack for imparting God’s wisdom in these areas, and their teachings have impacted our family greatly. Check out their article on “Identity Directed Homeschooling.”
There are links on that page to many other great articles by them, as well. But this is a foundation stone. If you have about ten to fifteen minutes, take the time to read it. It really may impact the whole future of the way you look at your child(ren)’s education.
One excellent ministry you should connect with for family-related products, history, cool toys that recognize the different needs of boys and girls, Christian filmmaking, Christians digging up dino bones, etc. is Vision Forum Ministries. They have been a tremendous blessing to our family and many people we know. We highly recommend them to you. If you sign up for their updates, there are sometimes good coupons or sales they offer.
An interesting book you can read online, which I’ve only read part of, is The Underground History of American Education by John Taylor Gatto.
